INDIANAPOLIS ? A bus carrying teenagers returning to Indiana from a church camp in Michigan crashed Saturday afternoon just minutes from home, killing three people and sending 26 others to hospitals.

The bus came speeding off of Interstate 465 in northern Indianapolis, about a mile from the Colonial Hills Baptist Church that passengers attended, struck a retaining wall as it rounded a curve and overturned. The campers were returning from Camp CoBeAc in northern Michigan, about six hours away.

The church?s youth pastor had sent a tweet a couple of hours before the crash saying the group was expected to arrive at the church about 4:15 p.m., around the time the accident happened.

?They were not that far from home. That only adds to the tragedy,? said Indianapolis Public Safety Director Troy Riggs.

The dead included a man and his wife, Riggs said. Authorities did not provide information about the third victim.

Riggs and Mayor Greg Ballard visited the crash scene, where clothing, pillows and seat cushions from the bus were scattered along with at least two shattered windows, before they headed to the church. Riggs said there was no indication that the driver had a medical emergency and called the accident ?a great tragedy.?

Ballard said investigators were taking measurements and examining the bus to determine the cause of the crash.

WTHR-TV reported the bus driver told witnesses his brakes failed. Indianapolis Fire Department Lt. Ato McTush said police and fire officials had not determined whether the church-owned bus, which was carrying 37 passengers plus the driver, had mechanical issues.

Duane Lloyd told WTHR that he heard a loud noise behind him as he was traveling near the intersection and saw the crash around 4:15 p.m.

?I heard a skid. I looked back. I see this bus in the air and people falling out of the bus,? Lloyd said. ?I could have gone my whole life without seeing that.?

Karen Woodard, a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church, cried as she stared at the wrecked bus.

?It?s so terrible. I can?t believe it,? she said.

Indianapolis Fire Department said crews had to free five people who were trapped inside after the crash. Several people stopped to help before first responders could arrive, including one man who helped pull the driver out of the bus, the department said.

?People were stopping their cars. People were literally trying to lift the bus,? Lloyd said. ?You just try to do what you can do.?

Fire officials said the injured included children and adults.

Nine teenagers were taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital, including one in critical condition. Three of those were treated and released, hospital spokeswoman Sally Winter said. She said 10 others, including nine teenagers and a toddler, were taken to Riley Hospital for Children. Seven of those teenagers were treated and released, Winter said.

Many of the patients were suffering head, arm and leg injuries, fire officials said.

Roads near the scene were closed, and authorities urged people to use caution in the area. A hazardous materials crew was cleaning up diesel fuel that spilled in the crash.

Outside the church, a yellow school bus with the church school?s name was parked outside with piles of sleeping bags and suitcases nearby. Families hugged outside and talked quietly before going inside, where they met with Ballard and Riggs Saturday evening.

Ballard described the families as ?remarkably positive? despite their sorrow.

?Some of the teenagers are hurting pretty bad and you can see that in their faces,? he said.

Church member Jeff Leffew, 44, of Fishers, who had three daughters on the bus that crashed and a fourth on a second bus, said he was waiting to pick them up in the church parking lot when the second bus arrived. He said he knew immediately that something was wrong because the kids on the bus were screaming.

He went to the crash scene and found his three daughters with only bumps and bruises.

He called the crash scene ?surreal.?

?You?re just praying that it?s not as bad as it looks,? he said. Roads near the scene were closed, and authorities were urging people to use caution in the area. A hazardous materials crew was in the area cleaning up diesel fuel that spilled in the crash.

Sex and video games: Virtual reality erotica may be the HolyGrail

Video games

A small company in Irvine, CA, has started working on what it claims to be "the world's first erotic virtual reality game" for the Oculus Rift.

Wicked Paradise

A small company in Irvine, CA, has started working on what it claims to be "the world's first erotic virtual reality game" for the Oculus Rift.

Video games stand apart from the rest of modern technology because of the medium's immunity to pornography. Perhaps it's because gamers ? historically male teenagers and twentysomethings ? just aren't into porn, right?

OK, that can't be it.

The more likely reason is that it's really, really hard to blend sex and video games in a convincing way. Sure, on TV's "30 Rock," fictional character Tracy Jordan dreamed up a game "where characters get weird with each other for golden points." But until recently, all that reality produced were Japanese dating sims, clumsy hook-ups in "Second Life" and silly bouncing cars in "Grand Theft Auto." Even Paul Trowe, the CEO of Replay Games ? which recently rebooted the cheesy and borderline-offensive "Leisure Suit Larry" franchise ? admitted to NBC News that the infamous game "isn't about sex; it's about the absence of sex."

"Heavy Rain" was considered groundbreaking for the quality of its voice-over and motion-capture work when it was released in 2010

Heavy Rain / Sony

"Heavy Rain" may have been visually groundbreaking when it was released in 2010, but the horrendously awkward sex scene is one of the main things that kept players from truly suspending disbelief.

Video game virtual sex has been on an upswing in recent years, with varying degrees of success. Character-driven games like "Dragon Age" and "Heavy Rain" created somber novelesque sex scenes with a photorealism never before rendered in polygons, but drew complaints that the illusion fell flat. Character movements are a bit inhuman, or worse, players are required to participate in goofy ways, like using a PS3's dual joysticks to unhook a virtual bra.

And that's the problem.

The closer developers get to "virtual sex," the greater the risk of falling into the uncanny valley ? our natural revulsion to the not-quite human. (This divide is what makes "The Incredibles" more watchable than "Polar Express.") What will it take to bridge the valley? The latest virtual-reality goggles and full-body motion sensing a la Xbox Kinect, working in tandem, says Jeroen Van den Bosch, the latest entrepreneur to seek this Holy Grail.

Think 'wicked'
Belgium-born Van den Bosch runs a small startup in Irvine, Calif., and claims to have a working prototype of "the world's first erotic virtual reality adventure game."

Jeroen Van den Bosch, the founder of Wicked Paradise.

Wicked Paradise

Exactly how players hook up in "Wicked Paradise" isn?t something Van den Bosch will detail during the development phase. But he claims his game will succeed where others have failed because the visual quality of computer-generated images (CGI) is finally able to make practically life-like characters.

Van den Bosch also has a not-so-secret weapon ? a virtual reality (VR) gaming headset heralded as the first VR product that actually works. The Oculus Rift ? high-tech goggles through which users see 3-D panoramic images that adjust in real time ? promises "total immersion" for the player.

"So in real life when you're reaching out to grab that door handle" (or whatever else one might want to reach out and grab in an "erotic" game), "in virtual reality you can see yourself do exactly the same thing," Van den Bosch said.

"It's awesome," he says of his as-yet-unseen game.

Erotica or smut?
Just don?t call the game "pornography."

"Porn is making something that you watch; we're making something that you do,? Van den Bosch told NBC News.

Van den Bosch working with one of the motion-capture actresses for "Wicked Paradise." He told NBC News that his work on "Wicked Paradise" was inspired by recent games like "Heavy Rain" and "The Last of Us" that were praised for the quality of their motion-capture and voiceover work that helped create realistic and dynamic characters with which players could interact.

Road to VR

He told NBC News that his work on "Wicked Paradise" was inspired by recent games like "Heavy Rain" and "The Last of Us" that were praised for the quality of their motion-capture and voiceover work that helped create realistic and dynamic characters with which players could interact.

?We have thousands of very well-designed shooter games that all cater to negative emotions ? terror and fear," Van den Bosch said. "But we very rarely have any attempts to create positive emotions like passion, seduction, and love."

He?s not alone in this observation.

Modern game design hasn't exactly evolved to make different kinds of relationships and interactions with game characters possible, explained Belinda Van Sickle, the president and CEO of Women in Games International, which works to promote the inclusion and advancement of women in the games industry worldwide.

"The template game mechanic for so many games is just shooting things," Van Sickle told NBC News. "And that's just because: sex is not simple. Violence is simple!"

Van den Bosch, too, is critical of the game industry's double standard of inviting people to consume horrendously violent work while simultaneously abhorring anything that has the least bit to do with sex.

Nonetheless, news of "Wicked Paradise" has been met with sarcastic smirks if not outright disdain. "This is why we can't have nice things," BuzzFeed's game critic quipped in an article about "the horny dudes" who are "making a porno" for the Oculus Rift.

Like its science fiction counterpart "Mass Effect," "Dragon Age: Origins" drew fierce praise and condemnation alike for its frank depictions of sex and LGBT relationships.

BioWare

Like its science fiction counterpart "Mass Effect," "Dragon Age: Origins" drew fierce praise and condemnation alike for its frank depictions of sex and LGBT relationships. Despite breaking new ground, many gamers and even the game's own developers now admit that the blocky animations and Enya-esque soundtrack for the sex scenes made it hard to appreciate them for anything but their sheer camp value.

Rather than a ?porno,? Van den Bosch prefers to compare ?Wicked Paradise? to ?Game of Thrones? ? something that has says is "very sexually explicit but still has a great storyline."

Will it catch on?
Whether or not the eight-person team behind "Wicked Paradise" is truly a group of inspired artists or just a group of "horny dudes," Van Sickle told NBC News that she doubts the mainstream game industry will change its outlook about sex in video games any time soon.

Sickle said that since the Entertainment Software Rating Board's main purpose is to protect "the video game industry from becoming a target" of public criticism, she would be surprised if the organization starting relaxing its stringent standards around sexual material (compared to, say, violent content) any time soon.

"Leisure Suit Larry" was one of the first games to popularize the dating simulation/adventure game hybrid for American audiences. While the series has become synonymous with the salacious underbelly of video games, Paul Trowe, president of Replay Games, insists that "Leisure Suit Larry" is more about "the absence of sex" than anything explicit or raunchy. His company recently released "Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded," the latest installment in the series, to middling reviews.

The ESRB rating system maintains a powerful enough grip over many of the most lucrative parts of the industry that the vast majority of game developers making material like Van den Bosch's don't bother submitting games for a rating. Receiving an Adults-Only (AO) rating from the ESRB preemptively shuts it off from millions of players, since none of the major game consoles or video game retailers like Wal-Mart or Best Buy will allow AO-rated games anywhere near their customers.

As with the Internet, Van Sickle thinks that sexually explicit material in video games is an eventual inevitability ? as long as hardware developers like Oculus VR keep their promise to not regulate content. And, well, that may not be such a bad thing after all.

"There's a market for adult video games, because adults play video games and adults like sex," Van Sickle said. "So I'd like it see to grow and become something above-ground, rather than what it is right now."

Clinical Trial at MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando Testing New Oral Medication to Treat Breast Cancer

Newswise ? Orlando, FL ? July 26, 2013 ? MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando is participating in a clinical trial to evaluate a new oral medication (BKM120) in combination with Fulvestrant to treat locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer that is hormone receptor positive and HER2 Neu negative and that has progressed on an aromatase inhibitor. BKM120 belongs to a new class of drugs called PI3K inhibitors, which in combination with traditional treatments may be able to slow or stop cancer growth.

BKM120 and Fulvestrant for Treating Postmenopausal Patients with Estrogen Receptor-Positive Stage IV Breast Cancer

Also known as the Belle-2 clinical trial, this study will determine if BKM120 in combination with Fulvestrant helps breast cancer patients live longer and prevent their disease from spreading. PI3K is an enzyme that plays a central role in the development of numerous cancers. By blocking this enzyme, BKM120 may enhance the effectiveness of standard treatment with Fulvestrant. Currently, Fulvestrant is the drug most post-menopausal patients with hormone receptor positive breast cancer receive when their disease progresses.

?The Belle-2 trial is exploring a new drug that blocks an important enzyme critical for cancer cells,? said Rebecca Moroose, MD, Medical Oncologist, MD Anderson ? Orlando. ?Our hope is that this study will shed light on additional strategies to fight breast cancer, delay the progression of the disease and prolong survival.?

At present, there are limited treatment options specifically approved for treatment of breast cancer after the cancer has reoccurred or progressed on an aromatase inhibitor. Aromatase inhibitors (AIs) are a class of drugs used to treat breast and ovarian cancers in postmenopausal women. As breast and ovarian cancers require estrogen to grow, AIs are taken to either block the production of estrogen or block the action of estrogen on receptors. The development of this drug BKM120 may be beneficial in increasing the effectiveness of hormone blocking medications in certain patients.

MD Anderson ? Orlando is the only hospital in Central Florida and one of only five in the state to offer this clinical trial to breast cancer patients.

For more information on this clinical trial contact MD Anderson ? Orlando at 321-841-1620 or visit http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01339442?term=bkm+120&rank=6.

Man admits to captivity, abuse of 3 Ohio women

CLEVELAND (AP) ? A man accused of kidnapping three women, keeping them captive in his Cleveland home for a decade and raping them repeatedly is waiting to be sentenced after pleading guilty in a deal to avoid the death penalty.

Ariel Castro, 53, a former school bus driver, pleaded guilty Friday to 937 counts in the deal, which sends him to prison for life without parole, plus 1,000 years.

Wearing an orange prison jumpsuit, eyeglasses and a bushy beard, Castro was far more engaged than in previous court appearances when he mostly kept his head down and eyes closed. He answered the judge's questions in a clear voice, saying he understood that he would never be released from prison and adding that he expected he was "going to get the book thrown at me."

He told the judge he was addicted to pornography, had a "sexual problem" and was himself the victim of sexual abuse long ago.

"My addiction to pornography and my sexual problem has really taken a toll on my mind," he said.

The judge accepted Castro's plea, declared him guilty, and set his sentencing for Thursday.

The women, who did not attend the court proceeding, said in a statement they were relieved by the conviction.

"They are satisfied by this resolution to the case, and are looking forward to having these legal proceedings draw to a final close," said the statement released on their behalf.

Castro's uncle, Julio Castro, who has run a nearby corner store for 44 years, said the ordeal will be with the family the rest of their lives.

"He's getting what he deserves," Castro, 77, said. "Nobody has the right to incarcerate you for 10 years."

The three women disappeared separately between 2002 and 2004, when they were in their teens or early 20s. Each said she had accepted a ride from Castro, who had remained friends with the family of one of the women and attended vigils over the years marking her disappearance.

The women escaped from his home May 6 when one of them kicked out part of a door and called to neighbors for help. Castro was arrested and jailed shortly afterward.

He had been scheduled for trial in August on a 977-count indictment, but 40 counts were dropped Friday as part of the plea deal.

Castro was accused of restraining the women, sometimes chaining them to a pole in a basement, to a bedroom heater or inside a van. The indictment included two counts of aggravated murder related to accusations that he punched and starved one of the women until she miscarried.

Gina DeJesus, Amanda Berry and Michelle Knight disappeared when they were 14, 16 and 20 years old. Castro fathered a 6-year-old daughter with Berry, now 27, authorities say.

Prosecutors said Friday they will recommend at the sentencing that Castro have no contact with the girl he fathered. There's "zero chance" he'll ever be allowed to see her, Prosecutor Tim McGinty said.

McGinty said the county will use more than $20,000 seized from Castro to tear down his house within a month, and two abandoned houses next door will be razed and a vacant lot acquired for a park.

Ethics committee extends Michele Bachmann probe

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Allegations surrounding Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann and her brief presidential campaign are getting further examination from the House Ethics Committee.

The panel said in a brief statement Friday it is extending until at least September a review of Bachmann's case, which was referred to it by the Office of Congressional Ethics, an independent investigative body. The panel said it would announce any further action by Sept. 11.

The committee announced similar extensions of OCE investigations for three other members of Congress: Reps. Tim Bishop, D-N.Y., Pete Roskam, R-Ill., and John Tierney, D-Mass. The panel said it would announce further action on those cases, too, in September.

William McGinley, a lawyer for Bachmann, acknowledged the OCE investigation in March, saying it was tied to her presidential bid and that the tea party favorite was cooperating with the investigation. Bachmann has denied any wrongdoing but announced in May she would not seek re-election.

In a statement Friday, McGinley said the committee's extension was routine and expressed confidence that Bachmann will be vindicated.

"Today's statement by the House Ethics Committee emphasizes that its customary 45-day extension does not 'indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee,'" McGinley said. "It does not speak to the merits of this matter, and any inference to the contrary is false."

He added, "We are confident the committee will discover, upon proper review, that the highly politicized allegations made at the OCE level were baseless and without merit."

The OCE is an independent House panel run by a board of directors who are outside Congress, although some of them are former lawmakers. The OCE's investigative reports and recommendations for further investigation go to the member-run House Ethics Committee, the panel that decides whether rules were violated. The committee can then vote to continue investigations, launch its own formal investigations or dismiss cases outright.

OCE referred each of the investigations to Ethics Committee in June, recommending full investigations. The House committee was required to take action on the cases or release the full reports of the OCE by Sunday. Instead, it will continue to look into all of the cases for another 45 days.

Because not all of the OCE reports were revealed Friday, it's not clear what specifically some of the investigations of the lawmakers entail.

In a statement, Tierney said he believed the OCE investigation involving him was related to his personal financial disclosure reports.

"I welcome the opportunity to finally put this issue to rest after many years of my opponents attacking me," Tierney said.

Ethicial questions surrounded Tierney's bruising 2012 re-election campaign against former State Sen. Richard Tisei.

Tierney's wife, Patrice Tierney, served one month in federal prison in 2011 after admitting she was "willfully blind" to the source of millions of dollars in income for her brothers, Robert and Daniel Eremian, who were running an illegal, offshore gambling operation.

Patrice Tierney managed a checking account for her brother Robert and helped him to prepare a false tax return, according to her plea agreement.

John Tierney has always denied any involvement in his wife's activities and was re-elected last year. He also has defended his wife, saying she was wronged by her brothers and believed the income in the account she managed was from legal businesses and services.

Bishop also faced ethics complaints during his 2012 re-election campaign. He was criticized by his Republican opponent for helping a constituent ? who later donated $5,000 to his campaign ? to obtain a fireworks permit.

"As I have said many times, I welcome a fair-minded review of the facts because I have done nothing wrong," Bishop said.

Roskam's office said in a statement the OCE investigation into him involved a trip he took to Taiwan. Roskam spokeswoman Stephanie Kittredge said he informed the Ethics Committee about the trip and his planned activities on it before he left.

Roskam took the unusual step of publicizing his OCE report on Friday because he said he had done nothing wrong.

"The record reflects that Rep. Roskam fully complied with all laws, rules, and procedures related to privately sponsored travel," Kittredge said. "The trip was vetted and approved by the House Ethics Committee, the body legally authorized to make determinations on congressional conduct."

Bachmann's White House bid ended quickly after a disappointing sixth-place finish in the Iowa's leadoff presidential caucuses but has caused lingering problems for her.

In January, a former Bachmann aide sent a letter to the Federal Election Commission alleging that Bachmann made improper payments to an Iowa state senator who served as her state chairman. A suit by a different aide alleging that someone in her team stole a private email list of home-school supporters for use in the campaign was dismissed last month.

Earlier this month, Javier Sanchez, a former top aide to Bachmann, was arrested and charged with thefts that took place in a House office building. Sanchez has left Bachmann's office and is charged with theft of money or goods less than $1,000 in value.

Rodriguez reports to Yanks' minor league complex

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? Alex Rodriguez reported back to the New York Yankees' minor league complex Wednesday, three days after he was diagnosed with a strained left quadriceps on the final day of his injury rehabilitation assignment.

Rodriguez, under investigation by Major League Baseball for his reported ties to a clinic accused of distributing banned performance-enhancing drugs, spent a little over four hours at the complex.

"I feel great. That's all I've got to say." he said when he left, rolling down a window of the SUV he was in. Then he rolled up the window, gave a thumbs up as it closed and then departed.

The third baseman, who turns 38 on Saturday, had been recovering from hip surgery in January. He hit .250 (8 for 40) with two homers and eight RBIs in 13 minor league games before the leg injury.

New York said A-Rod was being sent to Tampa for "for rest and treatment." The Yankees have not said whether they intend to send him on another rehab assignment.

Outfielder Curtis Granderson, coming back from a broken pinkie, talked with Rodriguez in the clubhouse.

"I saw him briefly as soon as I came in," Granderson said. "He wanted to come hit with us, but he had to get some stuff taken care of. Almost like a kid out at recess, they had to stop him. You can't go yet. But it's all good signs knowing that he's eager and ready to get back going."

Granderson said Rodriguez was in a good mood.

"Smiling, talking," Granderson said. "Doesn't seem any different than what I've seen in the past."

Granderson, expected back in early August, says he will start a minor rehab assignment Thursday night with Class A Tampa and will be evaluated at the end of the weekend.

Infielder Jayson Nix, sidelined by a hamstring injury, played third base in his first minor league game with the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Yankees. He went 0 for 2 and was hit by a pitch.

Scott Snowden and Robert Jennings guilty of Sharkey family ...

Two men have been found guilty of murdering a family by setting fire to their home in a seaside town.

Scott Snowden and Robert Jennings were on trial accused of killing Thomas Sharkey, 55, his 21-year-old son Thomas jnr and eight-year-old daughter Bridget in Helensburgh, Argyll.

On Wednesday, the jury at the High Court in Glasgow found Snowden, 37, and Jennings, 50, guilty of murdering the family members on what was the second anniversary of the flat fire.

Mr Sharkey's children died in the blaze at their home in Scott Court on July 24, 2011, while he died of his injuries six days later in hospital.

Snowden and Jennings were also convicted of attempting to murder Mr Sharkey's wife, Angela, 48, who survived the fire.

The trial had previously heard that Snowden, who was in Mexico at the time of the deaths, had shown "wicked recklessness" by ordering the murder.

Jennings was caught on CCTV in the area around where the blaze was set in the early hours, after he had poured petrol through the Sharkey's letterbox and set fire to it.

The jury of ten women and five men found them guilty of murdering the Sharkey family following an 11-week trial.

When the verdict was announced Snowden shook his head and there was no reaction from Jennings. Mrs Sharkey and Richard Sharkey - her husband's son from a previous relationship - and other family members and friends shouted "Yes" as the guilty verdicts to the triple murder were read out.

After the verdict, Angela Sharkey released a statement. She said: "For almost two years my life, and the lives of many others affected by the tragic events in July 2011, have been on hold. We have all had to do our best to come to terms with the fact that we have lost three very special people in a horrific way.

"Personally, knowing that the people responsible are being prevented from carrying out such a crime again will help. I still struggle to understand why they felt it necessary to do what they did to my innocent children but I will have to learn to live with that."

She also thanked her family, friends and colleagues for support, as well as the police, emergency services and the Crown Office for their work in the case.

Killers: Scott Snowden (l) and Robert Jennings were found guilty of murder

Sharkey murderers Scott Snowden and Robert Jennings

Jurors found charges against Snowden for a fire at a house at Shandon, Helensburgh, in July 2008, not proven. While charges against Jennings of fire setting at The Steep house in Rhu in September 2009, at the Garth Inn in Helensburgh on June 2009 and at the Mariners pub in the town in April 2010 were also found not proven.

The Crown's case was that Snowden instructed or instigated the fire and expressed satisfaction at it having been carried out. Advocate depute Alex Prentice, prosecuting, told the jury of the "terrible effects" of the blaze and Mr Sharkey's "desperate" attempts to get out.

Thomas Sharkey Jnr and his sister "succumbed pretty quickly" as a result of inhaling fire gases and smoke, he said. The advocate added: "This was a fire set in the early hours of the morning with the introduction of petrol into the only door access and egress to the property, and no means of escape," he told them during his closing speech last week.

The case had a "background of involvement in drugs", the court heard. There was evidence that Mr Sharkey Snr "intervened in connection with a debt" and that Snowden had a "hatred" of him, the jury was told.

Both men denied involvement, claiming prosecutors failed to produce a motive and that various witnesses lied when giving evidence. But the jury, which began deliberating on Monday afternoon, convicted both of murder.

Jennings was said to have acted as Snowden's hired hand to exact revenge when something annoyed him. The two men carried out a "campaign of violence" in Helensburgh, Mr Prentice said.

Witness Lee McCarthy, 31, said Snowden told him he planned to get Mr Sharkey shot during a conversation in the pub and later, in the aftermath of the fatal fire, confided "it went wrong". Mr McCarthy said Jennings told him that he set the Mariners pub in Helensburghon fire after Snowden told him: "You know what to do."

Mr Sharkey planned to renovate and run the pub but it was burnt down weeks before it was due to open. In his evidence, Simon Fraser, 47, said Snowden told him that Mr Sharkey Snr "got what he deserved" in the fire and shrugged his shoulders when the children's deaths were mentioned.

If you're not a fan of the official Google Drive app, GoDocs makes for a great alternative

If you're not a fan of the official Google Drive app, GoDocs makes for a great alternative

Aside from giving you quick access to Google Drive for all your documents and videos, GoDocs offers support for multiple accounts, push notifications, and more. For users who don't feel the official Google Drive app is powerful enough, GoDocs is worth a look.

Aside from quick access to your Google Drive files all in one app, you'll also be able to do a lot of the same things you can with the official Google Drive app including view and edit documents.

GoDocs also offers advanced features such as push notifications and support for multiple accounts. In situations where you may have more than one Google account that you store documents in, it's a good option.

While the official Google Drive app does a good job of managing your documents, some of the advanced features of GoDocs will be appreciated by pro users. I also like the interface of GoDocs over the official app as well. If you try it out, let us know what you think of it in the comments.

Coroner: Asiana Flight 214 victim killed by fire truck, not plane crash

Chinatopix via AP

Ye Mengyuan poses for photos with other classmates in eastern China's Zhejiang province in an undated photo. Mengyuan was one of three victims of the July 6 crash of Asiana Airlines Flight 214 in San Francisco.

By Tracy Connor, Staff Writer, NBC News

One of three teenage victims from Asiana Airlines Flight 214 was killed by a fire truck that responded to the scene ? and not from the impact of the plane crash, officials said Friday.

Ye Mengyuan, 16, survived the horrific landing and was alive when at least one specialized rig struck her on the runway at San Francisco International Airport, San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucrault said.

"Obviously, we are heartbroken. We're in the business of saving lives," said San Francisco Fire chief Joanne Hayes-White, apologizing for what she called "a tragic accident."

"It's difficult and very devastating news for all of us."

Mengyuan?s classmate and travel companion, identified by the Korean-based airline as 16-year-old Wang Linjia, was also killed in the July 6 crash. A third girl, a 15-year-old, died of her critical injuries six days later.

San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucrault says, the cause of Ye Mengyan's death was "multiple blunt injuries that are consistent with being run over by a motor vehicle."

The victims?were reportedly traveling in a group of 34 Chinese high school students and a teacher on their way to summer camp in California.

Another?180 people were injured, including two flight attendants who were ejected from a gaping hole at the back of the plane onto the runway.

Federal investigators believe the Boeing 777 came in too slow and too low and clipped the seawall on the runway as it landed. After its tail was ripped off, it spun around and eventually burst into flames.

Emergency crews sped to the runway to douse the jet in white foam and rescue passengers. Hayes-White said "every aspect" of the response is under investigation.

She said emergency workers had "risked their lives" to save people from the burning plane. "Many lives were saved on July 6," she said.

"We're really trying to support our members," she added.?"Everyone is very emotional from this incident," she said.

The fire chief said her department has reached out to Mengyuan's family through the Chinese consulate and offered to meet with them.

It's not clear how the teen ended up on the runway or why the truck did not see her. She was on the ground when she was hit by one or two trucks, the coroner said.

An autopsy determined that she died from "multiple blunt injuries that are consistent with being run over by a motor vehicle."

"Our forensic examination revealed that she was still alive when she received those injuries," he said. It's unknown if she suffered any injuries from the actual crash.

Passengers evacuate from an Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft after a crash landing in San Francisco.

Although the National Transportation Safety Board will not issue a report on the cause of the crash for months, 83 survivors have taken the first step toward suing the airline and the plane's manufacturer.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean features in 17-minute review

Android-43-Jelly-Bean-features-review

We know a number of our readers are interested in not only the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, but also the main features and how they perform on the Samsung Galaxy S4. This smartphone is currently Samsung?s flagship model and will likely stay that way until the Galaxy S5 arrives next year.

Earlier today, we published an article with a couple of videos comparing Samsung?s Galaxy S4 vs. iPhone 5. The difference with these videos compared to others we published was the OS running on both smartphones. That article looked at an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 beta verses a Galaxy S4 running the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.

Full Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean review ? we have included a 17-minute video below this article that delivers a full review of both the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, and also a review of Samsung?s Galaxy S4 running this software.

It is worth noting this version of Android 4.3 is running on a Galaxy S4 model GT-i9505, so if that?s your smartphone then you might find this hands-on all the more interesting.

We have included a second video below as well that takes a look at Android 4.3 vs Android 4.2.2 in a quick speed test. This video is from another YouTube user and we included it after seeing some people asking for a little more insight into the two updates. It isn?t as detailed as the first review, but we hope to bring our readers more information about the differences between Android 4.2.2 and 4.3 in the coming days.

Space Shuttle Atlantis Launches on Public Display in Florida

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. ? Space shuttle Atlantis, the final orbiter among NASA's winged fleet to fly in space, launched on its new mission Saturday (June 29) as the centerpiece of a $100 million tourist attraction in Florida.

Astronauts from each of Atlantis' 33 flights joined officials at NASA's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex for a morning ceremony marking the opening of "Space Shuttle Atlantis," a 90,000-square foot (8360 square meters) exhibit dedicated to the retired spacecraft.

"There are not a lot of places where you are going to be able to get as a close to an orbiter as you are going to be able to get when you get inside the Atlantis exhibit here," said Charles Bolden, NASA Administrator and commander of Atlantis' 11th mission, STS-45, in 1992. [See photos of the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit]

Inside the five-story building, Atlantis has been mounted 30 feet (9 meters) above the ground and angled 43.21 degrees to one side. The shuttle's payload bay doors have been opened and a detailed replica of its robotic arm has been installed and extended such that it just reaches over the heads of visitors.

Theatrical lighting and a 40-foot-long (12-meter) animated digital backdrop helps complete the illusion that Atlantis is back in space, orbiting the Earth.

"There's nowhere else in the world that you will be able to see an orbiter that looks the way it looks when it's in flight in space," Bolden said. "That is a very, very, very unique opportunity to see it in a unique configuration."

Awesome Atlantis

"It is awesome," said Robert Cabana, the director of the Kennedy Space Center and a four-time shuttle astronaut. "We showcase Atlantis but [the exhibit] tells the 30-year history of the shuttle program and the amazing team that made it all happen."

The attraction includes replica International Space Station modules, a full-size high-fidelity model of the Hubble Space Telescope, four multimedia, cinematic productions and more than 60 interactive activities that invite guests to "be the astronaut."

"We have a lot more to offer our guests than just one attraction as they come nose-to-nose with Atlantis," said Bill Moore, chief operating officer of the visitor complex for Delaware North Companies Parks & Resort, which since 1995 has operated the property for NASA. "We have the chance here to give them the experience of what it might be like to be an astronaut ? to land a space shuttle, to dock with a space station, to maneuver the shuttle robotic arm and maybe even take a walk in space."

The guests' experiences begin even before they enter the building. Outside, a towering replica of the shuttle's solid rocket boosters and massive external fuel tank serve as a gateway for the exhibit. The facility, itself, was designed to evoke a shuttle returning from space, using iridescent hues of orange and gold to represent the glow of re-entry and a shimmering tile pattern similar in appearance to the orbiter's underbelly.

Second mission

After ending the space shuttle program two years ago to pursue sending U.S. astronauts beyond Earth orbit, NASA awarded its retired orbiters Discovery, Endeavour and the prototype Enterprise to museums and science centers in Virginia, California and New York so that they could serve as educational tools for generations to come.

Although the space agency chose to retain ownership of Atlantis, the objective with its display is the same.

"When Atlantis landed for the final time [on] July 21, 2011, it was said that its voyage had come to an end," Moore said. "We're going to challenge that a little bit."

"Atlantis' voyage is not ending; in fact, it has just begun," he said, explaining that the orbiter's new mission was to inspire and educate those who come to see it on display.

Cabana said that Atlantis would "capture the imagination of another generation."

"It'll continue to inspire as it starts off its second mission," Cabana said. "It was a phenomenal spaceship ? it helped us explore and discover ? and now it is going to lead a mission of inspiration for future scientists, engineers and explorers."

Abortion fight in Texas

Yes indeed, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has cut women to the quick with his insulting and condescending comments regarding Democratic State Senator Wendy Davis, who blocked the highly restrictive abortion bill with her filibuster of more than 10 hours. But then again, what can you expect from a man, who once suggested that Turkey?s leaders are Islamic terrorists?

In any case, women are intelligent enough to make their own decision concerning the necessity to terminate a pregnancy, carry a baby to full term and or raise a child as a single mother. Until Gov. Perry gets his medical degree, I suggest he and fellow Republicans remove their long arm of government and stop interfering with a woman?s right to choose.
