  • eseguire queste operazioni amministrative:
    • creazione account Office 365;
    • gestione dell?associazione tra gli account Office 365 e quelli presenti nella rete locale
    • attivazione e disattivazione degli account di Office 365
    • collegamento del proprio dominio Internet a Office 365
    • visualizzazione dello stato degli utilizzi e di altre informazioni relative all'abbonamento Office 365
    • accesso al portale di gestione di Office 365.

Global oil search may cost $595 billion in 2012

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Dahlman Rose & Co. on Tuesday said it expects worldwide oil and gas exploration spending to rise by 9% to a record $595 billion in 2012. Analyst James Crandell based his projection on a survey of 460 companies. Capital spending in the U.S. is expected to increase by 11%. "The results of our exploration and production spending survey support our thesis of a long upcycle...in spending internationally, as well as our emphasis on beneficiaries of horizontal drilling in the shales and the increase in ultra-deepwater drilling," Crandell said in a note to clients. "We continue our broad-based positive stance toward investing in the group, with a focus on large-cap oil service and equipment companies /quotes/zigman/1470028 OSX +0.07% , land drillers, and North American services."

The return of Arkansas' mass bird deaths (The Week)

New York ? Ominously, scores of blackbirds once again fell from the sky above a small southern town on New Year's Eve. But this time, intentional mischief may be to blame

Here we go again? Last New Year's Eve, some 5,000 blackbirds dropped from the sky in Beebe, Ark., a small town about 35 miles from Little Rock. The subsequent media frenzy fueled plenty of dire apocalyptic theories.?This weekend, the New Year once again brought scores of dead blackbirds to Beebe. Here, a concise guide to the seemingly eerie coincidence:

Why did the birds die last year?
The conventional wisdom says: Fireworks. The celebratory explosions unexpectedly caused the birds to become disoriented and "fly all over the place," according to Arkansas officials. Birds slammed into buildings, telephone poles, and trees, according to state officials.

Why were blackbirds specifically afflicted?
They were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Beebe is home to a large roost of blackbirds. The birds, who don't?usually?fly at night, have poor vision in the dark.?That makes them particularly vulnerable to mishaps after being unnerved by fireworks.

And this year?
Fireworks were again involved, but this year's spooking seems to have been premeditated. Officials say the roughly 200 dead birds appear to have been the victims of an intentional crime. "We know that there was evidence of fireworks set off in the middle of the roost, and it wasn't a coincidence," reads an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission statement. Indeed, says one resident. "We started hearing the fireworks going off, and some gun shots going off in the air, and it really seemed like people were trying to recreate last year's New Year's."

Does everyone buy that explanation?
No. Plenty of people are doggedly interpreting this year's incident as yet another sign of the apocalypse. Indiana pastor Paul Begley, for one, remains convinced that the bird deaths prove God is fulfilling the Hosea prophecy, in which humanity is punished for its many sins. "It's time to listen to the word of the Lord," he says.

Does 'Supersizing' Supershrink Your Brain?

Fries and soft drinks... they're insanely profitable even with the free refills and if they're self-serve, there is almost no labor component to them.

I've been out of the restaurant management business for about 5 years, but things couldn't have changed that much. It costs about 3 cents for the cup and about 10 cents on average to fill it (various size cups, not every refill is a full cup, etc). People get their initial fill, most people get one refill, few people get more than one. So, if we just assume everyone gets 2 refills, it costs 23 cents for your beverage, which they sell to you for anywhere from $1.50-$4 depending on the restaurant. That gets you a ~500% profit margin.

Fries also have a good margin, though there is a higher labor component, the cost of cooking them, keeping them frozen, lowered yield (waste, broken fries, etc). In fact, most fryer side orders are pretty profitable (a half dozen mozzarella sticks might sell for around $5, but you can buy a 4.5 pound case for around $11, which will yield about 10 orders).

The sandwiches aren't nearly as profitable, particularly the meat sandwiches, but the sandwiches are what get people in the door. A 1/3rd pound burger costs around 75 cents for the meat, 20 cents for the bun, 15 cents for the cheese, and up to another 25 cents if it is dressed. They need to be refrigerated, you lose yield (overcooked, fell apart, etc) and are relatively labor intensive (especially if you patty them yourself). For that $1.40 investment (not counting labor, yield, etc), you sell it for about $3.

Factor in that somewhere around a third of all of your revenue goes to labor and another 30-40% goes to food costs depending on your model. On top of that, you still have your overhead - mortgage/rent/property taxes, heating/cooling, gas/electric, etc. Profits are pretty thin in the fast food/diner/family restaurant market and without the profitability of the side orders, most of them can't stay in business for long (hell, most of these non-chain restaurants fail in the first year anyway). Upscale/fine dining is a whole different beast.
