If you're not a fan of the official Google Drive app, GoDocs makes for a great alternative

If you're not a fan of the official Google Drive app, GoDocs makes for a great alternative

Aside from giving you quick access to Google Drive for all your documents and videos, GoDocs offers support for multiple accounts, push notifications, and more. For users who don't feel the official Google Drive app is powerful enough, GoDocs is worth a look.

Aside from quick access to your Google Drive files all in one app, you'll also be able to do a lot of the same things you can with the official Google Drive app including view and edit documents.

GoDocs also offers advanced features such as push notifications and support for multiple accounts. In situations where you may have more than one Google account that you store documents in, it's a good option.

While the official Google Drive app does a good job of managing your documents, some of the advanced features of GoDocs will be appreciated by pro users. I also like the interface of GoDocs over the official app as well. If you try it out, let us know what you think of it in the comments.

Coroner: Asiana Flight 214 victim killed by fire truck, not plane crash

Chinatopix via AP

Ye Mengyuan poses for photos with other classmates in eastern China's Zhejiang province in an undated photo. Mengyuan was one of three victims of the July 6 crash of Asiana Airlines Flight 214 in San Francisco.

By Tracy Connor, Staff Writer, NBC News

One of three teenage victims from Asiana Airlines Flight 214 was killed by a fire truck that responded to the scene ? and not from the impact of the plane crash, officials said Friday.

Ye Mengyuan, 16, survived the horrific landing and was alive when at least one specialized rig struck her on the runway at San Francisco International Airport, San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucrault said.

"Obviously, we are heartbroken. We're in the business of saving lives," said San Francisco Fire chief Joanne Hayes-White, apologizing for what she called "a tragic accident."

"It's difficult and very devastating news for all of us."

Mengyuan?s classmate and travel companion, identified by the Korean-based airline as 16-year-old Wang Linjia, was also killed in the July 6 crash. A third girl, a 15-year-old, died of her critical injuries six days later.

San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucrault says, the cause of Ye Mengyan's death was "multiple blunt injuries that are consistent with being run over by a motor vehicle."

The victims?were reportedly traveling in a group of 34 Chinese high school students and a teacher on their way to summer camp in California.

Another?180 people were injured, including two flight attendants who were ejected from a gaping hole at the back of the plane onto the runway.

Federal investigators believe the Boeing 777 came in too slow and too low and clipped the seawall on the runway as it landed. After its tail was ripped off, it spun around and eventually burst into flames.

Emergency crews sped to the runway to douse the jet in white foam and rescue passengers. Hayes-White said "every aspect" of the response is under investigation.

She said emergency workers had "risked their lives" to save people from the burning plane. "Many lives were saved on July 6," she said.

"We're really trying to support our members," she added.?"Everyone is very emotional from this incident," she said.

The fire chief said her department has reached out to Mengyuan's family through the Chinese consulate and offered to meet with them.

It's not clear how the teen ended up on the runway or why the truck did not see her. She was on the ground when she was hit by one or two trucks, the coroner said.

An autopsy determined that she died from "multiple blunt injuries that are consistent with being run over by a motor vehicle."

"Our forensic examination revealed that she was still alive when she received those injuries," he said. It's unknown if she suffered any injuries from the actual crash.

Passengers evacuate from an Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft after a crash landing in San Francisco.

Although the National Transportation Safety Board will not issue a report on the cause of the crash for months, 83 survivors have taken the first step toward suing the airline and the plane's manufacturer.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean features in 17-minute review

Android-43-Jelly-Bean-features-review

We know a number of our readers are interested in not only the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, but also the main features and how they perform on the Samsung Galaxy S4. This smartphone is currently Samsung?s flagship model and will likely stay that way until the Galaxy S5 arrives next year.

Earlier today, we published an article with a couple of videos comparing Samsung?s Galaxy S4 vs. iPhone 5. The difference with these videos compared to others we published was the OS running on both smartphones. That article looked at an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 beta verses a Galaxy S4 running the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.

Full Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean review ? we have included a 17-minute video below this article that delivers a full review of both the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, and also a review of Samsung?s Galaxy S4 running this software.

It is worth noting this version of Android 4.3 is running on a Galaxy S4 model GT-i9505, so if that?s your smartphone then you might find this hands-on all the more interesting.

We have included a second video below as well that takes a look at Android 4.3 vs Android 4.2.2 in a quick speed test. This video is from another YouTube user and we included it after seeing some people asking for a little more insight into the two updates. It isn?t as detailed as the first review, but we hope to bring our readers more information about the differences between Android 4.2.2 and 4.3 in the coming days.

Space Shuttle Atlantis Launches on Public Display in Florida

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. ? Space shuttle Atlantis, the final orbiter among NASA's winged fleet to fly in space, launched on its new mission Saturday (June 29) as the centerpiece of a $100 million tourist attraction in Florida.

Astronauts from each of Atlantis' 33 flights joined officials at NASA's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex for a morning ceremony marking the opening of "Space Shuttle Atlantis," a 90,000-square foot (8360 square meters) exhibit dedicated to the retired spacecraft.

"There are not a lot of places where you are going to be able to get as a close to an orbiter as you are going to be able to get when you get inside the Atlantis exhibit here," said Charles Bolden, NASA Administrator and commander of Atlantis' 11th mission, STS-45, in 1992. [See photos of the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit]

Inside the five-story building, Atlantis has been mounted 30 feet (9 meters) above the ground and angled 43.21 degrees to one side. The shuttle's payload bay doors have been opened and a detailed replica of its robotic arm has been installed and extended such that it just reaches over the heads of visitors.

Theatrical lighting and a 40-foot-long (12-meter) animated digital backdrop helps complete the illusion that Atlantis is back in space, orbiting the Earth.

"There's nowhere else in the world that you will be able to see an orbiter that looks the way it looks when it's in flight in space," Bolden said. "That is a very, very, very unique opportunity to see it in a unique configuration."

Awesome Atlantis

"It is awesome," said Robert Cabana, the director of the Kennedy Space Center and a four-time shuttle astronaut. "We showcase Atlantis but [the exhibit] tells the 30-year history of the shuttle program and the amazing team that made it all happen."

The attraction includes replica International Space Station modules, a full-size high-fidelity model of the Hubble Space Telescope, four multimedia, cinematic productions and more than 60 interactive activities that invite guests to "be the astronaut."

"We have a lot more to offer our guests than just one attraction as they come nose-to-nose with Atlantis," said Bill Moore, chief operating officer of the visitor complex for Delaware North Companies Parks & Resort, which since 1995 has operated the property for NASA. "We have the chance here to give them the experience of what it might be like to be an astronaut ? to land a space shuttle, to dock with a space station, to maneuver the shuttle robotic arm and maybe even take a walk in space."

The guests' experiences begin even before they enter the building. Outside, a towering replica of the shuttle's solid rocket boosters and massive external fuel tank serve as a gateway for the exhibit. The facility, itself, was designed to evoke a shuttle returning from space, using iridescent hues of orange and gold to represent the glow of re-entry and a shimmering tile pattern similar in appearance to the orbiter's underbelly.

Second mission

After ending the space shuttle program two years ago to pursue sending U.S. astronauts beyond Earth orbit, NASA awarded its retired orbiters Discovery, Endeavour and the prototype Enterprise to museums and science centers in Virginia, California and New York so that they could serve as educational tools for generations to come.

Although the space agency chose to retain ownership of Atlantis, the objective with its display is the same.

"When Atlantis landed for the final time [on] July 21, 2011, it was said that its voyage had come to an end," Moore said. "We're going to challenge that a little bit."

"Atlantis' voyage is not ending; in fact, it has just begun," he said, explaining that the orbiter's new mission was to inspire and educate those who come to see it on display.

Cabana said that Atlantis would "capture the imagination of another generation."

"It'll continue to inspire as it starts off its second mission," Cabana said. "It was a phenomenal spaceship ? it helped us explore and discover ? and now it is going to lead a mission of inspiration for future scientists, engineers and explorers."

Abortion fight in Texas

Yes indeed, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has cut women to the quick with his insulting and condescending comments regarding Democratic State Senator Wendy Davis, who blocked the highly restrictive abortion bill with her filibuster of more than 10 hours. But then again, what can you expect from a man, who once suggested that Turkey?s leaders are Islamic terrorists?

In any case, women are intelligent enough to make their own decision concerning the necessity to terminate a pregnancy, carry a baby to full term and or raise a child as a single mother. Until Gov. Perry gets his medical degree, I suggest he and fellow Republicans remove their long arm of government and stop interfering with a woman?s right to choose.
