LSU LT Chris Faulk injured in practice, out Saturday vs. Washington

LSU left tackle Chris Faulk was injured in Wednesday's practice and is out for Saturday's game with Washington, Coach Les Miles said Wednesday.

"It looks like Faulk's got a bit of an injury, we don't know exactly how bad," Miles said in his post practice media briefing. "We hope to return him to the game sometime soon."

Miles said Faulk's replacement will be either sixth year senior Josh Dworaczyk, or that he will shuffle the offensive line by moving sophomore left guard La'el Collins or right tackle Alex Hurst into Faulk's spot.If Collins moves, Dworaczyk would likely step in at his old left guard position. If Hurst moves, freshman Vadal Alexander will move up.

"We're kind operating with the idea that we're moving guys around to give them a multiple feel for the position," Miles said. "No decision is going to be made right now as to how we'll go Saturday. We feel pretty comfortable we'll be good there."

Miles indicated Dworaczyk and Hurst would be the first choices and added Collins because he played tackle in high school and is comfortable in the left-handed stance. He said he wants to give Hurst snaps there in case the injury is long term and that the staff likes Alexander at right tackle in that eventuality.

Faulk, a 6-feet-6, 323-pound junior from Slidell, was one of the top rated college tackles coming into the season and was tabbed by some NFL draft experts as a first round pick.

Miles said he didn't know how long Faulk might be out.

"Certainly this week is as long term as we'd like to see it," Miles said. "We'd like to see it end quickly. But we're going to be prepared to handle whatever length of injury it is."

LSU is fortunate to have Dworaczyk, a two-year starter at left guard before sitting out last season with a knee injury. He was awarded a sixth season of eligibility by the NCAA and has been training at tackle guard and center during fall camp.

"He has great size and ball skills," Miles said. "It's difficult to even man him up with a small linebacker. That would be the issue. It's play physical and make sure somebody is on him to contest the throw. I don't think the packages will be different. The matchups will be some concern there that we're addressing."

Seferian-Jenkins' backups are 6-6, 255-pound Michael Hartvigson and 6-5, 262-pound Evan Hudson.

WARE IS HE: Miles said running back Spencer Ware, who did not play last week, has a better chance to play this week. Ware started 10 games and was the Tigers' second leading rusher last season.

"He's practiced every practice (this week)," Miles said. "He really practiced all last week as well. I feel like his health is much better."
